About Stuart Parnell
Born Wirral, Cheshire 1951
Studied fine art at Wirral College of Art and Design from 1983 to 1986 becoming a full time artist in 1987 working on commissions, solo and group exhibitions. I have also taught fine art in adult education and artcentres. I am married with two sons and now live and work in the Welsh countryside. My work is in public and private collections throughout the UK, Europe, USA and Australia. I have been fortunate enough to have won awards for my paintings on a local and national level. The main source of inspiration for my work is drawn from the rural and natural environment of the British Isles featuring landscape, wildlife and coastal subjects in acrylics on canvas, board or paper. A combination of studies and photographic references provide a starting point for the work to be completed in the studio. I also enjoy creating photographic images and digital art. I belong to a group of artists and craftworkers running a gallery and workshops situated at Lake Vyrnwy in mid Wales. My work attempts much more than objective representation. It is a personal interpretation and is intended to delight the eye and lift the spirit. Thank you for taking the time to view my work.
